Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic has been identified as a public health emergency of global concern. In this article, our objective is to study the impact of Covid-19 on male and female gender. For this study, primary and secondary research has been carried out, and any inordinate negative impact of Covid-19 on either women or men in terms of health, education, or economic outcomes has been analyzed in detail. This is an exploratory study that involves surveys of sample respondents from the population with a mix of both males and females and reliable secondary sources. A relationship between the identified outcomes and the underlying variables such as increased domestic workload, domestic violence or abuse, caring activities for children etc., which are hypothesized to be one of the causes as well as the consequence of the vicious circle of the gender-biased impacts of Covid-19, has been established. Analysis of our research depicts that while men’s immune is found to be less competent in fighting with Covid-19 but the pandemic’s socio-economic consequences are impacting women more adversely and hampering gender equality in India.
