The Moroccan Resistance And The French Stance On It: The Rif War In Context
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to examine a part of the Moroccan resistance in the north, especially in the Rif Mountains, against the dual protectorate system of "Spanish-French" colonial rule. It highlights the role of the leader Abd el-Krim in organizing and leading the resistance, his ability to confront the colonial system, and his skill in leading and managing the nascent Republic of the Rif. Additionally, it exposes the cunning of the colonial systems and their alliances in achieving their ambitions and eliminating any form of resistance that obstructs them, as well as the reactions opposing their policies towards the peoples and countries of the Maghreb.
Despite the resonance of this resistance throughout the Arab world, the colonial powers exerted every effort to undermine and devalue all liberation movements in the Maghreb, striving to eradicate their influence. This was done to achieve stability in these territories at the lowest possible cost.
