Abstract

The field of the spoken language understanding is considered an essential activity in teaching and learning Arabic language, especially in the primary education. Teaching it aims at enhancing pupils’ (learners’) understanding skills and empowers their abilities of oral expression and catching the meanings through the spoken language. This process is carried out through providing different texts that vary in its genre: stories, novels, poetry, and daily dialogues; this, in one hand, helps in diversifying the pupil’s linguist experiments, as well as enlarges their visions. The process enables to build Arabic language skills for pupils; establish powerful base that facilitates the future learning; emphasize the writing and reading understanding; also, it develops understanding and listening skills, besides consolidating the grammatical rules and the linguistic vocabulary. Thus, teaching spoken language understanding in Arabic language curriculum of the primary education represents a real investment in developing language skills for the pupils, and preparing them for the coming educational levels.
