Abstract

The article discusses the pre-Islamic poem "Lamiyat al-Shanfara" as an example of dystopian poetry. The poet uses contrasting pairs to create a world where the self can assert its opposing authority and its future movement. This is an attempt to create a governing system, with the means devised by the poet being "tribal chaos" or "dystopia."

The article addresses several key questions, such as how can destruction or "dystopia" become a means to build what is virtuous? To what extent did the contrasting pairs contribute to the poet's expression of his absolute rejection of his bitter reality? The answers to these questions will be found within the pages of this article.
