Abstract

This article examines the teaching of French in Algerian universities. It focuses in
particular on the factors that are causing the decline in the level of French among higher education
students.
In this study, we will try to determine the status of French in the Algerian context, which is
both paradoxical and constant.
Furthermore, we will focus on the teaching of French in Algerian universities, taking into
account the multilingual context of Algerian students.
