The image of women in social media jokes (Facebook): a sociolinguistic study
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research attempts to study the image of women through jokes on social networking sites,
specifically Facebook, for the purpose of finding out whether these jokes reflect society’s view of women, a
view that objectifies them, links them to trivial and routine concepts, and describes them with inherited
negative traits related to treachery, betrayal, lying, domineering, gossip, etc., and how this contributes.
Literary genre helps consolidate these concepts, especially since it is transmitted through modern means of
communication characterized by the rapid spread of content.
