Main Article Content
Abstract
Spouses are the foundation of the family in society. They may live in a nuclear family with their children, and sometimes the family may be extended, where the husband’s parents live with them. Here the wife enters into interactions with his family, especially the husband’s mother. The relationship between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law is considered one of the most complex and unexplainable family relationships. it is sometimes characterized by understanding, adaptation and balance, and in some cases it is known for its tensions. It may lead the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to conflicts and problems with bad consequences, and all of this results from the desire of each of them to monopolize the attention of the husband-son, and this tension may lead to the ruin and destruction of families and the rupture of human relations. Cultural heritage bears part of this inferiority view of the mother-in-law, and the man bears a great responsibility to resolve disputes, end tension between his mother and his wife, and bridge the distance between them so that the mother does not feel jealous or neglectful. From this standpoint, our field study will attempt to answer the following questions:
- Does socialization play a role in determining the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law?
- Does cultural heritage supported by the media have a role in determining the relationship between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law?
