Abstract

This study analyzed the understanding of Tamil language teachers about the concept of Future Studies (KMD) identified in the Thirukkuralcouplets in Tamil Primary Schools (SJK(T)). Qualitative interviews were used in this study. Qualitative data was the interview data collected from six Year 6 Tamil language teachers. All the teachers interviewed had a very good understanding about the concept of KMD in all the Thirukkuralcouplets used in this study. Therefore, every teacher took the initiative to practice good teaching strategies to inculcate the concept of KMD in the content of Thirukurralcouplets among the students. It can be concluded that the Thirukkural couplets in the Tamil Language Syllabus played an important role in helping SJK(T) Year 6 students to achieve excellence and happiness in their lives. This is because the Thirukkuralcouplets have various implicit and explicit meanings that guide the life of every human being towards a good direction.
