Abstract
This study sheds light on the characteristics of critical practice in the work of one of the prominent Algerian literary critics, Amina Bellala. It explores the different cognitive backgrounds that underpin the descriptive discourse in her book "Semiotics of Patterns", while highlighting the main features of her conceptual framework as a critic.
