Abstract

The distinguished historical relations between Algeria and China have contributed to building solid diplomatic relations between the two countries, and China's foreign policy based on mutual benefit made China the first exporting country and the main economic partner for Algeria within investment contracts amounting to 22.20 billion $ during the period 2005 to 2016. With the aim of promoting economic relations, Algeria joined in 2018, the Belt and Road Initiative, which was adopted by China in 2013 to integrate its economy into the international economy in various continents, including the African continent, in order to achieve sustainable development. Algeria is looking for investments to gain technology and find an alternative to the oil economy, which is what it found in the Chinese partner. From this point of view, we try, through this intervention, to shed light on Algeria's chances of development as the gateway to Africa under the Chinese initiative.
