Connotation of Native Language in Learning English as Second Language at Early Childhood Level in Pakistan

Abstract
In modern era the English has become a second language for the socio-economic growth of the countries. Similarly, it is very important to learn the native language in order to seek the English as second language. As the study focuses on learning of English by Pakistani students at pre-school level, the prime objective of this present study was to determine the significance role of Urdu language (L1) in learning of English language (L2) at early childhood level. The study was descriptive in its nature. The primary school teachers from Multan division were selected as population whereas, 207 (Male= 75, Female= 132) participants were administered as sample of this research through simple random sampling technique. The data was collected through self-administered questionnaire through survey method. The statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was computed to analyze the data according to the proposed questions in this research. The findings revealed that that was a significant role of Urdu as a native language in learning English as second language.
